At Red’s Fly Shop, Ashtyn Harris and Shannon Mahre lead the way as two of our standout women fly fishing guides. They bring a great mix of fun energy, deep knowledge, and patience, making them ideal for both beginners and experienced anglers. Each guide has favorite waters she knows intimately, offering guided trips on the Naches, Upper Cle Elum, and other wild trout streams throughout Central Washington.
During the summer months, Shannon offers guided wading trips on the Naches River, ideal for anglers looking to explore wild trout water on foot.
In the spring, her focus shifts towards education, leading intro classes and women’s wade fishing clinics on the Yakima River. These clinics are all about learning in a fun, encouraging environment with hands-on instruction and real river experience.

The Women's intro course has a strong emphasis on learning to fly cast. It's the most fun and some might even say addictive! You'll learn a bit about where trout live and how to tie on a fly.

Women's Divide + Conquer Clinics - Naches
The Naches River Divide and Conquer outing begins on the lawn at Bron Yr Aur Brewery in Naches with a casting refresher and strategy session. After an hour of casting and planning, the group will break up into informal groups of 2-4 women and head to the Naches River.
While these are not guided trips, there is a support network. Your coach will lay out the plan in the morning, and this program is designed to let women help women achieve success and create a sisterhood that can adventure, learn, and succeed together. You will need your own rod, reel, leader, and a couple of dry flies for this excursion.
Divide + Conquer Schedule
- 60 Minute Casting Class and Refresher at Bron Yr Aur Brewery in Naches
- Break Into Groups of 3-4 Ladies (works great to bring a friend or two!)
- Fish DIY for 3 Hours on the Naches or Tieton Rivers Nearby with the support of our coaches — think 4ish to 1, client to coach ratio.
- Meet for Happy Hour Back at Bron Yr Aur for food and drinks! Bron Yr Aur is donating a beverage for each lady to enjoy during happy hour.
